RTC Values

NO SHORT CUTS, NO SECRETS

The RTC will work on developing an “open door” environment offering opportunities. There are no secrets to success; only dedication, consistency and hard work.

On certain days each month, affiliated coaches can bring athletes who are working on achieving the RTC standards to RTC workouts. This will help motivate up and coming athlete, facilitate bridging the gap to the RTC squad, and ease the social transition from club to RTC.

Our open door policy and all RTC operations status will encourage long term athlete development as envisioned by Triathlon Canada and the Canadian Sport for Life movement. This includes RTC values built around developing athletes to be the best they can be in the long term, not pushing them to short lived, short term success.

PARTNERSHIPS NOT RECRUITING

We are very aware of the adverse impact the RTC can have on local clubs.  As such, there will be no aggressive recruiting of athletes into the RTC. Rather, we are looking to present opportunities for top athletes to train as triathletes while still belonging to their home clubs as leaders, role models and top performers.  To minimize adverse effects, for each athlete a club to RTC transition plan is needed to ensure the most positive outcomes for all involved.

The RTC values are centred on the two main objectives of the program;

  1. to provide a World Leading Daily Training Environment to Triathlon Canada’s National and Development Team athletes
  2. to provide a World Leading Daily Training Environment & Development Opportunities to athletes achieving the RTC Entrance Criteria

As such the following values define RTC participants and the RTC program;

  • Pursuit excellence in triathlon
  • Provision of professional coaching and athlete support
  • Positive partnerships NOT agressive recruitments
  • Build positive partnerships
  • Respect the development of each individual
  • Foster a positive, welcoming and safe environment
  • Facilitate positive transition from club to RTC
  • Respect academic and career demands
