biomechanics

Sport biomechanics is the core of technical performance.

A coach who does not understand biomechanics is severely limited in their ability to coach technique, adapt technique to individuals and adapt to change.

We strongly believe good technique adheres to three fundamental principles of biomechanics;

  1. It minimizes the risk of injury to the athlete, both long term and short term injury.
  2. It does what it is supposed to do- allows an athlete to accomplish a given task whether that is running, swimming, biking or whatever.
  3. It does what it is supposed to do as efficiently as possible. This means with a lower energy expenditure than other variation on the technique as measured by performance, heart rate, power output, fatigue, etc.
