- be a member in good standing with a Canadian provincial sport governing body (or international equivalent) for the sport of triathlon and maintain that good standing throughout the current year;
- complete an application form for a Triathlon Canada International Competition Card (or international equivalent); (NOT REQUIRED FOR JUNIORS)
- provide Triathlon Canada with a current address, phone number, functioning email address, and emergency contact info, and will advise Triathlon Canada of any changes either prior to or immediately upon the change becoming effective;
- Commit to specialization of draft-legal sprint and/or Olympic Distance training and racing through the entirety of this agreement. Participation in other events must be approved by Triathlon Canada’s High Performance & NTC Director;
- give his/her best effort at all times while representing the NTC in any ITU sanctioned event.
- maintain a living environment conducive to high-performance achievements and take no deliberate action that puts his or her ability to perform at risk or limits performance;
- notify the RTC / Triathlon Canada immediately in writing of any injury or other legitimate reason that will prevent the Athlete from participating in an upcoming events and ensure in the case of an injury that a medical doctor’s certificate setting out the specific nature of the injury is forwarded to the RTC within three weeks of the injury;
- dress in the RTC uniform and/or other official clothing, if applicable, while traveling or participating as part of the RTC;
- not take any action or conduct that would reasonably be expected to significantly disrupt or interfere with a competition or the preparation of any Athlete for a competition or training camp;
- during or at RTC training camps and competitions refrain from the consumption of alcoholic beverages to a level that would reasonably be expected to impair Athlete’s ability to speak, walk or drive, or cause Athlete to behave in a disruptive manner;
- not use any substances that contravene the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the rules of the International Triathlon Union, World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and the Canadian Policy on Doping in Sport, information can be found on the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport website;
- submit to doping-control tests, both out of competition and unannounced, when requested by the NTC, Triathlon Canada, the ITU, Sport Canada, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (“CCES”), the World Anti-Doping Association (“WADA”) or other authorities designated to do so, as well as all other notification requirements or rules of WADA or the appropriate bodies herein;
- avoid the possession and trafficking in banned drugs as well as indirectly encouraging or condoning their use by knowingly aiding in any effort to avoid detection of the use of banned substances or banned performance-enhancing practices;
- adhere and comply with the RTC / Triathlon Canada’s appeal procedure;
- confirm with the CCES prior to taking any prescription or over-the-counter drugs to ensure the medication does not appear on the banned substance list;
- participate, if asked by the RTC / Triathlon Canada to do so, in any Doping Control Education Program developed by the RTC / Triathlon Canada in co-operation with Sport Canada and CCES;
- qutilize and be governed by the RTC / Triathlon Canada’s Code of Conduct, and Disciplinary and Appeals Bylaws (see www.triathloncanada.com) for remedy of complaints and issues.
- cooperate and participate in sponsors’ events in order for Triathlon Canada / RTC to achieve the best possible results in marketing and promotion of the 2010 RTC program.
- Athlete will use his/her best efforts to be present at any such events as are reasonably requested and will promote the RTC in a positive manner. Which may include participation in promotional events at the request of RTC’s sponsors/supporters;
- participate in photo sessions and press conferences (if requested), at the events at which the Athlete competes by virtue of his/her membership in the RTC and permit Triathlon Canada/RTC, without charge, to utilize (including marketing thereof) such photographs at its discretion;
- provide the RTC with a recent color photograph of him/herself, a current resume of athletic accomplishments, and a summary of current sponsors and sponsorship commitments, with the completed application form, if requested to do so (photos in electronic format are preferable);
- allow his/her name and likeness to be used for reasonable RTC promotional activities;
- where financial assistance is provided through a program of the RTC or its partners, acknowledge and recognize the RTC, it’s partners and shall include such recognition on the athlete’s web site, written communication (including electronic mail) and in the appropriate public appearances;
